AANP leader: NPs will be needed more as coverage increases

Limits on nurse practitioners' scope of practice will become unsustainable as the need for primary care increases with expanding coverage under the Affordable Care Act, AANP President Angela Golden said at a briefing hosted by Politico. Donna Shalala, a former HHS secretary, said professional frameworks of standards govern the way health professionals including nurse practitioners operate.
