Tonight! Virtual Town Hall: They Cut Medicaid, What Now?

Posted 10 days ago

Dear Nurse Practitioners of New York,

RSVP HERE to join us tonight at 6pm for this important Virtual HealthcareTown Hall: They Cut Medicaid, What Now? with special guest New York State Senator Gustavo Rivera!

Our panel of speakers will discuss how passage of the Trump Administration's Big Ugly Bill will effect New York and New Yorkers, the rights that immigrants and U.S. citizens have when confronted by ICE and police, and how enacting the New York Health Act and New York For All can protect our communities. Time for questions from the audience is included.

Featured Speakers:

NYS Senator Gustavo Rivera, NY SD 33
Mia Wagner
, Community Service Society
Eatonia Davis-Lopez, NAACP Williamsbridge Branch
Betty Kolod, MD, MPH, Physicians for a National Health Program - New York Metro Chapter
Roberta Todd, Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition

The coming cuts to Medicaid and Medicare will be devastating for the 1.5+ Million New Yorkers who will have their healthcare taken away. The healthcare workers, clinics and hospitals that serve us all will face reductions in services and possible closures, deepening existing inequities. – All to expand ICE's secret policing operations, disappearances, and deportations, and to serve up bigger tax breaks for the ultra rich.

Hosted by PNHP NY Metro, 1199 SEIU, Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition, the Healthcare Education Project

The urgency of this moment cannot be overstated.

Governor Hochul, Speaker Heastie, and Leader Stewart-Cousins have the opportunity – and the duty – to take immediate action. They must convene a special session to pass the New York Health Act and New York for All Act to shield New Yorkers from the insatiable greed of corporations and billionaires, from the effects of these attacks on our care and our lives, and from ICE, disappearances, indefinite detentions in deplorable conditions, and deportations.

Inaction is unacceptable. The time to lead is now.
