Medicaid Primary Care Payment Bill Introduced
Posted over 10 years ago by Juliette Blount
Nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified nurse-midwives, and clinical nurse specialists would be eligible to receive higher payment in 2013 and 2014 for some Medicaid primary care services under bipartisan legislation introduced August 2. AANP worked closely with Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) in drafting the “Protecting Access to Primary Care Act” (H.R. 2986) to expand provisions of the Affordable Care Act to improve access to primary care services by increasing Medicaid payments to the rates Medicare pays for those services. The legislation offers NPs an opportunity to educate lawmakers on the critical role nurse practitioners play in providing primary care to Medicaid enrollees.
