PUERTO RICO LOOKS TO ESTABLISH NP ROLE
Posted almost 12 years ago by Juliette Blount
The U.S. territory of Puerto Rico (PR) is preparing to establish the NP role for the first time. On April 22, 2013 nursing leaders in PR introduced Law Project 1051 in the House of Representatives. The measure defining the scope of practice for nurse practitioners had its first public hearing on August 21, 2013. A follow up hearing is set for this week. AANP would like to acknowledge the work of Dr. Carmen López, AANP Representative to Puerto Rico, and her colleagues in PR for their work in introducing the role of the NP to their community.
