Here are the answers to the networking questions we asked at our last monthly meeting:
Question: Name one important element about Nurse Practitioner practice that a student or new graduate should know.
Your Answers:
- Embrace your RN roots.
- Transition to thinking and communicating at the higher level of a Nurse Practitioner.
- Continue to develop and grow professionally.
- Identify your resources, ask question, and draw on past experiences.
- Be observant.
- Assess before treating, have insight Voice your professional opinion and be heard.
- Have a clear understanding of the Nurse Practitioner role.
- Beware of issues concerning our professional practice.
- Learn to network, stay connected with colleagues and the larger NP community.
- Always remember your initial motivation for becoming a NP and be sure that your work reflects that.
NPNY is proud that we can provide students and new grads with important tips and knowledge from our professional group. We encourage NPNY members to share this information with their colleagues, classmates , professors, and new graduates.
