We Asked and You Answered! Results of April's Networking Question Concerning the Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act

Posted over 11 years ago by Carmen Saunders

Attendees at the April NPNY Monthly CE meeting were asked the following question after reviewing the legal language of the Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act:  Which is the more appropriate practice arrangement for you: Collaborative Practice, Collaborative Relationship with a Physician or Collaborative Relationship with an Article 28 Facility?

There were fourty-four attendees who participated in the informal survey.   The general census is that the NPMA is a stepping stone toward full practice authority.  Most NP attendees felt there are many grey points within the legislation requiring clarification and thus were undecided.  While no one voted to stay in Collaborative Practice, fourty-one percent of the attendees felt they would like to transition to a Collaborative Relationship. Within that group, twenty-eight percent would prefer Relationship with an Article 28 Facility over Relationship with a Physician.

The above votes are likely to change as greater information becomes available throughout the course of this year.  Stay tune!
