DEA Moves Tramadol (Ultram) to Schedule IV Classification

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will be moving Tramadol (Ultram) to Schedule IV classification effective August 18, 2014. While NPs and Florida continue to be restricted by state law from prescribing scheduled medications, this move should not prohibit the prescribing of this medication by NPs in other states who are registered with the DEA.
