This program has been approved for 4.0 contact hours of continuing education (which includes 4.0 hour of pharmacology credit) by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. This program was planned in accordance with AANP CE Standards and Policies and AANP Commercial Support Standards.
Information Objectives: At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:

Describe the basic pharmacology of antihypertensive medications.

Apply JNC-8 Guidelines to the patient with hypertension.

Evaluate appropriateness of antihypertensive regimens with different patient comorbidities.

Interpret culture results and identify host factors to consider when selecting appropriate antibiotics.

Utilize pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics when selecting appropriate antibiotic regimens.

Assess therapeutic drug levels for vancomycin and aminoglycosides.

Discuss pharmacology of antibiotic classes as it relates to specific clinical scenarios.

Discuss the clinically significant anticoagulation pathways.

Describe the mechanism of action and pharmacology of warfarin, heparins,and the novel anticoagulants.

Defend selection of different anticoagulants in standard risk and high risk thrombotic disorders.

Participate in Question & Answer sessions.
